What a Tarangire safari costs in 2026
There is no single price for a Tanzania safari with Tarangire. The total depends on the group size, whether you camp or sleep in lodges, how many days you travel and what the package includes. Park fees, the vehicle and guide, the nights and activities are separate cost items, and a package may bundle some of them and leave others out.
The examples below are single offers. They show how the price moves with the group and the style of trip. They are not an average and not a market range, and a day trip has no fixed price that applies to every tour.

Example prices compared
Prices per person for the whole trip, not per day.
| Trip | 1 traveller | 2 travellers | 5 to 6 travellers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Camping safari, 2 days | $740 | $490 each | $295 each (6 travellers) |
| Camping safari, 3 days | $1,590 | $990 each | $630 each (6 travellers) |
| Private mid-range safari, 3 days, travel 29 July to 31 December 2026 | $1,970 | $1,850 each (2 to 4 travellers) | $1,730 each |
The camping prices are single offers, so use them as a guide and ask for a dated quote. The mid-range row is a private safari with a stated travel period. For most travellers who want to keep costs down, a shared camping safari in a group of four to six is the cheaper way, and for those who want rooms and their own vehicle the mid-range offer shows the scale.
What makes up the price
Check which of these are in your package.
Park fees
The conservation fee is charged per person and per day. For a non-EAC adult it is $50 (2023/24 tariff) or $70, depending on the rate TANAPA applies; check the current amount before you book. The 2023/24 tariff has $50 in the main season (16 May to 14 March) and $45 in the low season, before 18 percent VAT, with $15 for children aged 5 to 15. The amount set for the 2026/27 season is TZS 127,750 including tax. Ask whether the fee is in the price. The park fees page has the categories.
Vehicle and guide
The vehicle and the driver-guide are paid once for the group, and the cost is shared between travellers. This is why the price per person falls as the group grows.
Camping or lodge
The camping examples cost less than the mid-range offer. Public campsites, special campsites, camps and lodges exist in and around the park. See the lodges and camps page.
Activities
A night drive, a guided walk or a balloon flight is an add-on with its own fee. The 2023/24 tariff set $50 for an adult night drive, $20 for a short walk and $20 per group and day for a guide, before tax. Check the current amounts before you book, because these are 2023/24 figures.
Visa and insurance
An ordinary eVisa costs $50 and is valid for up to 90 days, and US passport holders can get a multiple-entry tourist visa for $100. Visitors who are not residents must also hold the state inbound insurance on the mainland, even with their own policy. Both are usually outside a safari package.
Tips and extras
Tips, drinks and souvenirs are usually extra. Check the exclusions list of your offer.
How group size changes the safari cost
Group size moves the price more than anything else in these examples. The 3 day camping price per person falls from $1,590 for one traveller to $990 for two and $630 for six, because the vehicle, the guide and the cook are paid once for the group. On the private mid-range offer the effect is smaller but still visible.
A shared safari is cheaper than a private one, and a private one gives you your own schedule. If you travel alone, look for joining tours so that you share the vehicle.

Tanzania safari cost beyond Tarangire
Other areas have their own fees.
If your safari includes the Ngorongoro Crater or the Serengeti, each area adds its own fee. The Ngorongoro area has its own authority, and the Tarangire figures do not apply there. The Serengeti costs are laid out at Serengeti safari costs, and the 2 and 3 day routes are described on the 2 and 3 day safari page.

Tanzania safari cost: frequently asked questions
How much does a Tarangire safari cost?

Are park fees included in the price?
That depends on the package. The camping example includes the national park fees, but not every offer does. Ask before you book.

There is no single price. The live prices above show current offers, and you should compare what each includes, such as the park fee, the vehicle and food.
Do I pay in dollars?
Park fees for non-residents are quoted in US dollars. Fees for Tanzanians and East Africans and some local costs are quoted in Tanzanian shillings. Safari prices on this page are in dollars.
Is this the official Tarangire website?
No. This is an independent travel guide. It is not the website of Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) or any authority, and it is not run by a safari operator.
